Question: Do I need an entry visit to visit Vietnam?

To whom it may concern

I may be travelling to Vietnam later on in the year. I am a British passport holder but will be flying from Bangkok, Thailand. Do I need an entry visit to visit Vietnam?

I heard that this was no longer required to promote tourism. Is this correct?

Regards
Mrs Angus

Answer

Dear Mrs Angus,

Thank you for your kind reply.

We would like to inform that Vietnam Government has just published a new Decree since 01 Jul 2016 (Vietnam time) to extend the Visa exemption policy for United Kingdom passport holders staying in Vietnam within 15 days for another year until 30 Jun 2017. To enjoy the visa free, the new entry date must be at least 30 days from your last exiting date in Vietnam using visa exemption. If the time distance is less than 30 days, you still need to apply for a visa.

If you are planning to visit Vietnam for over 15 days, you are required to have Vietnam visa before entering Vietnam.

We hope that the information above is helpful to you and should you have any further concerns, please let us know.

Best regards,
