Question: Does a Chinese Citizen staying in Malaysia need a visa to visit Vietnam?

My sister in law is from China, holding a Chinese Citizen passport. She married to my brother who is a Malaysian in 2014. They are currently residing in Sarawak. However, they would like to plan for a holiday to Ho Chi Minh in the very near future. Does my sister in law need a travel visa to visit Ho Chi Minh? If so, what are the documents required and procedure? We do not have Vietnam Embassy Office in Sarawak? Can we authorize the local travel agent to apply on her behalf? Thank you.

Answer

Dear Ngu Kie Hung,

Thank you for your email.

We would like to confirm that Chinese passport holders are required to have Vietnam visa in order to enter Vietnam. You can either submit your sister in law visa application here with us, or kindly send us a scan of her passport so that we could help you with the application and save your time.

It normally takes up to 2 working days to process your visa application and once it is approved by Vietnam Immigration Department, a visa approval letter will be sent to you via email. With this letter, you will be able to fly to Vietnam and get your official visa stamped at any of our international airports.

We hope that the information above is helpful to you and let us know should you have any further concern.

We look forward to hearing from you soon
